Aiden is a local AI agent for people who want help carrying out coding, research, and file management tasks. It plans multi-step work and keeps records you can inspect to check what happened and whether the result meets the goal.

  • Tasks and verification: Run commands, edit permitted files, execute Python or JavaScript, and work with repositories, with approval controls for consequential actions and evidence attached to results.
  • Persistent memory: Retain context across sessions and restarts, draw on local documents, and reuse verified outcomes while keeping uncertain findings marked as uncertain.
  • Research and browser work: Search the web, collect sources for reports, and perform supported browser actions with visible provenance; computer control depends on setup and isn't a closed-loop autopilot.
  • Background automation: An optional background service responds to schedules, file changes, email, and webhooks, with restart recovery and controls that prevent overlapping runs.
  • Connected tools: Extend tasks through MCP servers or configured channels such as Telegram, Discord, Slack, WhatsApp, and email, which require their own credentials.

Aiden is open source under AGPL-3.0 and runs on Windows, Linux, WSL, and macOS in API mode. It includes a terminal interface and a web Workbench. Ollama can keep model processing local; cloud providers receive the prompts requested for their tasks. Files, memory, and execution records stay on your machine, but provider choices and integrations may require network access.
