This policy covers the directory. Linked tools and websites have their own privacy policies.
Account and listing information supports sign-in, saved tools, submissions, ownership checks and any services you purchase. Where applicable, the legal basis is performing a contract or taking steps you request before entering one.
We use operational information to maintain the directory, prevent abuse, handle corrections and protect accounts. Where applicable, this relies on legitimate interests in running a useful and secure service, balanced against individuals' rights.
Newsletter subscriptions rely on your request to receive those emails and, where required, consent. You can unsubscribe or contact us to withdraw that consent without affecting earlier lawful processing.
Billing, tax and records required by law are processed to meet legal obligations. Where a particular feature requires consent, it must be obtained before the relevant processing.
Published tool and video information is visible to visitors and search engines. Account email addresses, private submission notes and support messages are not intended for publication. Do not include secrets or personal information you do not want published in a listing's public fields.
Removing an account does not necessarily remove factual information about a publicly available tool. If a listing contains your personal information, identify it in your request so it can be assessed separately.
The project uses service providers to operate its features: Neon for the database, Cloudflare R2 for uploaded media, Resend for email and newsletter contacts, and Stripe for checkout and billing. Vercel provides the hosting infrastructure for the public launch. Google and GitHub handle sign-in when you choose those options. Redis, when configured, supports caching, sessions and abuse controls.
Editorial AI features can send public tool websites, repository material and video source information through the Vercel AI Gateway to the selected model provider to prepare descriptions, summaries or classifications.
When enabled, Plausible measures visits and events such as outbound clicks and newsletter signups, without including the subscriber's email in the signup event. Its standard configuration uses no analytics cookies; its data policy explains the technical information processed. Revinel serves advertising and measures impressions and clicks when advertising is enabled. These requests can include technical information such as IP address, browser information and the page involved.
Affiliate links can carry a referral identifier. The destination merchant or affiliate service may record a referral, use its own cookies and report commission information when you click through or make a purchase. Its own privacy notice applies to that activity.
We may also disclose information when the law requires it, to resolve a dispute or to protect the service and its users.
localhosted uses YouTube API Services to retrieve public video information and embeds YouTube players. Public data can include video titles, channel details, descriptions, thumbnails and statistics. The site does not ask you to connect a YouTube account to watch videos.
The embedded player connects to YouTube when it loads, even before you start playback. It can send YouTube your IP address, browser information and the page's origin, and YouTube may use cookies or other device storage. Privacy-enhanced embeds are not a promise of zero data collection.

The configured Neon database is in the United States. Other providers may process information in other countries. Protections and legal rights can differ between countries.
Where required by applicable law, international processing must be supported by an appropriate legal transfer mechanism, such as a recognized adequacy decision or contractual safeguards. Contact us for information about the safeguards applicable to your information.
We keep account information while the account is active, and public listing information while it remains relevant to the directory. Subscription details support newsletter delivery until you unsubscribe; a limited suppression record may be needed to respect that choice.
Support, moderation, security and billing records may need to be kept for the purpose of the request, fraud prevention, legal claims or legally required accounting periods. Browser-storage durations are explained in Cookies & Storage.
Retention depends on the type of information, whether the account or service remains active, the need to resolve a request or dispute, and applicable legal requirements. When you ask us to delete information, we check whether we still need it for those purposes. We may need to keep records required by law; backup copies can remain until their normal replacement cycle.
Depending on the law that applies, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information; obtain a portable copy; restrict processing; object to processing based on legitimate interests; and withdraw consent. These rights can be subject to legal exceptions.
Email root@localhosted.com to make a request. Account deletion is requested through this contact route; there is no self-service deletion control in the current account area. We may need to verify your identity and retain records that the law requires. Where applicable, US state privacy rights can also include an appeal of a denied request and the right to opt out of a sale of personal information, sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising, or certain profiling. Contact us to exercise applicable rights or appeal a decision. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a protected privacy right.
You can also complain to the data-protection authority responsible for your jurisdiction, where that right applies.
You can unsubscribe from newsletter emails, remove bookmarks and clear your browser's site data. Disconnecting Google or GitHub through that provider does not by itself delete information already held by localhosted.
The directory is intended for a general audience researching software and is not designed specifically for children. Contact us if you believe a child has supplied personal information that should be removed.
The date above identifies the latest revision. We will explain material changes on the site or through another appropriate channel and ask for further consent where required.
