CodeProject.AI Server gives developers a shared API for AI tasks that run on their own hardware. It's a self-hosted service for adding image analysis, text processing and generation to applications. Processing stays on the machine running the server, without cloud calls or sending data outside your device or network.

Its vision modules detect objects, faces and scene types, read text and license plates, and recognize previously registered faces. Object detection also supports custom models. Image editing capabilities include background removal, portrait-style background blur, resolution enhancement and turning faces into anime-style cartoons.

For text, the server can extract important sentences into a summary and score sentiment. Its modules also cover LLM text generation, text-to-image generation, multimodal LLMs that answer questions about pictures, and sound classification. The modular design lets developers add their own analysis services behind the same REST API, so applications can call them from different programming languages.

The server runs on Windows, macOS with Intel or Apple Silicon, Ubuntu and Debian, Raspberry Pi arm64, and Docker. It also supports CUDA acceleration on Windows and Linux. A dashboard and Explorer provide a way to try its capabilities before integrating them into an app. Developers can distribute the installer with their own software. The Windows installer and Docker packages include object detection; other capabilities are available through additional modules. The server uses the Server Side Public License (SSPL), with additional obligations for providing it as a service. Modules and model weights can carry separate terms; check those components before deployment.
