EverOS is a self-hosted memory runtime and Python library for developers building AI agents that need to remember across sessions and applications. It stores conversations, files, and task histories as readable Markdown, with local SQLite and LanceDB indexes for retrieval. The code uses the Apache 2.0 license; a managed cloud service is also available.
Markdown files are the source of truth, so you can read, edit, and version memories with Git. File edits sync to the search indexes. Local deployments store these files and indexes on your hardware, while EverOS Cloud provides managed hosting. Both use the same memory format and retrieval engine, and memories can move between them through Markdown export.
The memory layer separates user profiles and past interactions from agent task records and reusable skills. Background consolidation combines related episodes and refines profiles and skills between sessions. Successful task histories can become procedures that other agents reuse. Memory scopes let developers separate shared knowledge from project and session context.
EverOS works with Claude Code, Codex, OpenClaw, Hermes, MCP, and the OpenAI and Anthropic SDKs. It supports keyword search and hybrid keyword/vector retrieval; embeddings and reranking require providers. Multimodal ingestion covers images, PDFs, audio, office files, and URLs. Its Knowledge Wiki adds editable Markdown pages linked to source material, with topic search and APIs for managing entries.

Graphiti is a self-hosted Python framework for developers building AI agents that need to remember changing facts. It builds knowledge graphs from conversations, structured records and unstructured text, so an agent can query current information or recover what was true earlier. It's open source under Apache 2.0.

M Flow is a self-hosted memory engine for developers building AI agents and applications that need to recall earlier conversations, facts, and workflows. Its distinguishing feature is how it selects context: vector search finds possible matches, then a knowledge graph ranks them by the evidence connecting them to the query. It's open source under Apache 2.0 and runs as a Python library or a Docker service.
Memind is an open-source Java memory engine for developers building AI agents that need context across sessions. It turns conversations, documents, tool calls, and resolved tasks into connected memories, while retaining the original material so developers can trace a recalled fact to its source. It's licensed under Apache 2.0.
sage-wiki turns documents into linked articles and a knowledge graph that both people and AI agents can query. It's for personal research collections, shared team knowledge, and agents that need a lasting memory of what they've learned. The software is open source under the MIT license and runs as a Go binary or in Docker on your own machine or server. It supports local models through Ollama.
SimpleMem is a Python memory system for developers building AI agents that need to recall earlier conversations and stored media. You can self-host it with Docker or use its hosted text-memory service. The code is open source under the MIT license.
MemMachine is a self-hosted memory layer for developers building AI agents and LLM applications that need to remember users across conversations. Memory persists across sessions, restarts, agents, and model changes, so an application's user history isn't tied to one model provider. It's open source under Apache 2.0.
