Ollamac is a native macOS chat app for people who want to use Ollama models through a desktop interface. It works with all models supported by Ollama and can run offline through a local Ollama installation. Ollama handles the model execution; Ollamac provides the interface for conversations.
The app requires macOS 14 Sonoma or later, with Ollama installed and at least one model downloaded. For someone already using Ollama on a Mac, it provides a graphical way to chat with those models without working in a terminal. Local model execution happens on your Mac, so the offline setup doesn't depend on a hosted AI service.
A configurable host lets you choose which Ollama instance the app connects to. That makes it useful if your preferred Ollama host differs from the default local setup. Syntax highlighting helps make code in responses easier to read, a practical feature for people using their models for programming questions.
Ollamac is free. Its code is available under an Apache 2.0 license with additional restrictions.
