OwnOrbit AI
A self-hosted personal AI assistant that reads local Markdown notes, runs with Ollama, and pairs with a mobile browser app on your phone.
OwnOrbit AI, formerly LifeOS AI, is an alpha self-hosted personal AI assistant for people who want help finding forgotten commitments in their own notes. It reads a Markdown folder you control and can surface deadlines, renewals, and unfinished work. The assistant runs on your computer, with a paired mobile browser app for phone access.
It runs through Docker or desktop apps for macOS on Apple Silicon, Windows, and Linux. The local model path uses Ollama with llama3.2; other local OpenAI-compatible endpoints are supported. You can also choose cloud providers such as OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, DeepSeek, and Qwen. With a local model, note processing stays on your hardware. Cloud providers handle AI requests externally. The project is open source under the MIT license.
Studio creates small runnable tools for specific needs, such as a subscription renewal tracker or a monthly budget calculator. You can refine a generated tool, retain its saved state, inspect runtime logs, and roll back to an earlier version. Permission checks and blueprint review let you assess what a tool will do before using it.
The phone app supports chat, an offline message queue, and action permissions. Remote access can use your local network, Tailscale, or Cloudflare Tunnel. Desktop controls include device pairing and backup and restore. Alongside Markdown, the local memory reader accepts .ics calendar files for upcoming events and open dated tasks without changing the original files.
The public v0.1.5-alpha downloads still use the LifeOS name. Newer native Apple and CloudKit features are available only in the source development version.
