ZoneMinder is a self-hosted video surveillance system for people who want to manage security cameras on their own Linux machine. It brings video capture, analysis, recording and monitoring into one system, with support for IP, USB and analog cameras. It's free and open source under the GNU General Public License v2.0 (GPL-2.0).
Its camera support makes it relevant to setups that mix network cameras with equipment connected directly to the computer. Most IP network cameras are supported, alongside USB cameras and analog video cameras attached through compatible capture hardware. Video processing and recording run on the Linux host you control.
ZoneMinder is built for Linux distributions that support the Video For Linux interface. Packages are maintained for Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora and other distributions, so it fits people who already use Linux for a home or business surveillance server. Its support for analog capture includes cameras connected through BTTV cards.
