BotSharp is a self-hosted framework for .NET developers building AI agents into business applications. Written in C#, it runs on Windows, Linux and macOS and is open source software under Apache 2.0. Its plugin design lets teams choose their model provider, storage and interface while keeping agent coordination in the same framework.

Agents can divide responsibilities and cooperate on tasks, with routing, planning and conversation state built in. BotSharp also provides tools to test, evaluate and audit agent behavior. For assistants that need information beyond a model's training, it includes knowledge base components and vector search interfaces, plus a Qdrant integration.

Model choices include LLamaSharp for local inference and provider plugins for OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and DeepSeek. The application backend runs on your own machine or server; cloud model calls go to the selected provider. MCP support lets agents call external tools and includes a visual interface for managing those connections.

A SvelteKit admin UI provides a browser interface, while REST and WebSocket APIs let developers connect their own frontend. Messaging integrations include Slack, Telegram and Facebook Messenger. Plugins also cover audio and image processing, files, SQL access and Python execution. Storage choices include MongoDB and LiteDB.
