Numen provides hands-free voice control and dictation for Linux. It is for people who want to operate their computer through speech, including users who cannot comfortably type or want to reduce hand strain.

Its speech recognition uses Vosk with a locally installed language model. Commands are passed to dotool to simulate keyboard and mouse input, allowing voice control across the desktop rather than only inside a text editor. Once the speech model is installed, recognition does not need a hosted transcription service.

Installation requires the Vosk library, a speech model and dotool alongside Numen. Its documented source installation and Linux packaging provide ways to set up the software. The project publishes its source code and provides support through a mailing list and Matrix chat.
