This tutorial walks through hosting AFFiNE, an open source workspace with whiteboards and notes, on a VPS using Hostinger's Docker Manager. Hostinger sponsors the video. The presenter discusses the KVM 2 plan with two CPU cores, 8 GB of RAM and 100 GB of NVMe storage, but performs the installation on an existing KVM 8 server. Those specifications describe the plans shown, rather than tested minimum requirements.
The setup starts in hPanel. After installing Docker Manager, the presenter selects AFFiNE through the Compose one-click deployment menu. He reports that deployment took roughly three minutes. The first launch leads to account setup and an admin section where users can receive either admin or regular user roles. The walkthrough also covers server settings, storage, notifications and OAuth. AI features require the user to supply an API key; the video does not demonstrate a local model backend.
Removing the admin portion of the URL opens the main workspace. The presenter uses demo content to move whiteboard elements, edit connections and inspect workspace properties. He describes the self-hosted edition as free with unlimited workspaces, while noting that the VPS costs money. He says workspace data resides on his server. The walkthrough does not establish broader security guarantees, and he notes that other VPS providers can also host the application.
