This tutorial connects Claude Code to Playwright MCP for browser automation, then uses the browser session to generate a test script. The presenter starts with a Node.js version check and creates a project with npm init playwright@latest, accepting the default options. Their machine has Node.js 23 installed; the video does not establish that version as a minimum requirement.
The setup uses Claude Code in the Visual Studio Code terminal. The presenter discusses authentication and installation commands for macOS and Windows, including PowerShell, then adds Playwright MCP using the command supplied by its repository. Claude Code already has the server configured on the demonstrated machine. The presenter inspects browser tools such as resizing, console messages and dialog handling.
For the demo, the presenter asks Claude Code to open the Playwright TodoMVC app and add three tasks. After a permission prompt, the transcript reports that the browser completes those steps without a handwritten test script. A follow-up request produces a TypeScript spec using the page locators and supplies a command to run it. The presenter reports four executed tests and opens an HTML report, but is uncertain whether the run was headed or headless. The workflow demonstrates a coding assistant controlling a browser; it does not establish offline operation or local model inference.
