This tutorial connects Claude Code to developer-defined website tools through WebMCP and Firecrawl's Interact endpoint. The speaker explains how a named tool with an input schema can replace the browser automation steps needed to find form fields and submit them. The example uses a fake restaurant reservation page from Google's WebMCP examples.
The setup registers a booking tool through a WebMCP polyfill. Its JavaScript fills the form, validates the inputs and returns reservation text. Claude Code first discovers and calls that tool through a bash script using Agent Browser on the speaker's machine. This local route requires Chromium and Playwright, which the speaker notes may be difficult to install in restricted work environments or CI pipelines.
The Firecrawl version uses its Node SDK to scrape the page, obtain a scrape ID and retain the browser session through Interact. Playwright code then discovers the available tools and calls the booking tool with supplied arguments. This coding assistant workflow uses a cloud browser; it is not an offline setup. The speaker reports completing the cloud demonstration in under a minute, but provides no measured token comparison.
The implementation depends on the polyfill's JavaScript behavior. The speaker warns that native declarative HTML support will require script changes and that the WebMCP proposal may change before release.
