Evan reviews Odysseus, PewDiePie's self-hosted AI workspace, and demonstrates installation on TrueNAS through Dockge. He explains the distinction between the interface and its model: users can connect a local LLM or supply an API key. API requests send messages to the provider and incur usage charges, so hosting the interface at home does not make those conversations private.

The tour covers personas, autonomous group chats, memories and skills, plus an image editor. Cookbook scans hardware and recommends models, but Evan cannot get its downloads and local inference working on his machine without a GPU. His suggestion that a GPU might help remains untested in the demonstration.

Deep Research produces a visual report with linked sources. His example draws on 13 sources over about eight minutes, and he warns that repeated research rounds can consume substantial API tokens. Calendar support includes CalDAV, but he reports no Google Calendar sync; Gmail access supports drafting replies.

Evan recommends OpenWebUI for simpler chat and describes Odysseus as a broader, less polished workspace. He also compares it with the convenience of the ChatGPT and Claude websites. Citing reported security vulnerabilities, he advises keeping Odysseus local or behind a VPN. The setup builds from source and covers environment settings and optional Nvidia or AMD GPU configuration; he disables authentication specifically for his demo instance.
