AingDesk is a desktop AI assistant for using local models and knowledge bases, with optional connections to third-party AI APIs. It runs on macOS and Windows and can also be deployed on your own server. The project is free and open source under the MIT license.
You can build local knowledge bases for conversations about your own information and share them with other users. Custom agents let you give assistants different roles; agents can also be shared. An MCP client connects compatible external tools, and web search brings online information into a conversation.
Local model deployment keeps inference on your hardware. Choosing an external model API sends requests to that provider, and web search requires an internet connection. The same app supports both model routes, so you can choose the backend for each use case.

Halo puts Claude Code and Codex in a visual desktop app for people who want AI agents to work with files, write code and handle recurring tasks. It runs on macOS, including Intel and Apple Silicon, Windows and Linux. The desktop app doesn't require a separate backend server. Model access uses Anthropic, OpenAI, DeepSeek or compatible APIs, so running the app locally doesn't make those services offline.
