aionrs is a Rust command-line AI agent for developers who want an assistant to work directly with local files and shell commands while choosing their own model provider. It can inspect a project, edit code, search files and view images, then carry out tasks across multiple tool calls.
The agent runs locally. It connects to Ollama and vLLM through OpenAI-compatible APIs, or to cloud services including Anthropic, OpenAI, AWS Bedrock and Google Vertex AI. Local tools act on your machine; choosing a cloud provider sends model requests to that service. The project is open source under the Apache 2.0 license.
For larger tasks, aionrs can spawn sub-agents to work in parallel. Its read-only plan mode lets the assistant explore a project before making changes, and MCP support connects it to additional tools. Reusable skills and project instructions in AGENTS.md give the agent context about how you want work handled. Hooks can trigger formatting, linting or audits around tool activity.
Saved conversations let you resume work, while project-specific memory carries information across sessions. Context compression helps manage long conversations and large tool outputs. You can use it for a single request or an interactive terminal session with conversation history in normal scrollback.
Provider profiles let you switch models, and a configurable compatibility layer handles differences between APIs. It supports OpenAI Chat Completions and Responses, plus thinking and reasoning controls for models that expose them.

Claude Code is an AI coding agent for developers who want to delegate work across a repository, from bug fixes to longer refactors and migrations. It runs locally on macOS, Linux, and Windows, but sends requests to cloud model APIs. It is proprietary software and requires authentication to a supported model service.
Claw Orchestrator is a self-hosted runtime for developers who want to coordinate coding agents on their own machine or server. It brings Claude Code, Codex, Antigravity, Grok Build and OpenCode into one interface, with support for custom coding CLIs. The runtime and browser dashboard run locally.
Cline is an AI coding agent for developers who want help understanding a codebase and changing it. Its shared agent core is open source under Apache 2.0. You can use it in VS Code, JetBrains IDEs, or a terminal. A native desktop app runs on macOS and Windows. No editor is required for desktop sessions. The JetBrains plugin itself is not open source.
Code Buddy is an AI coding assistant for developers who want a terminal agent running on their own machine, with a choice of local or cloud models. It reads repositories, edits code and runs commands on Linux, macOS and Windows. Ollama keeps model inference local without an API key or account; cloud providers send model requests off the machine. Routing includes automatic provider failover.
