AQBot brings multi-provider chat, coding agents and a local API gateway into one desktop app for people who use several AI services. It runs on macOS, Windows and Linux and is free, open source under AGPL-3.0. Application data and user files stay on your machine; chats sent to cloud providers use their APIs.
You can connect OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, DeepSeek, Qwen or an OpenAI-compatible endpoint. Chat supports parallel model answers, conversation branches and long-conversation compression. Reusable roles store prompts and conversation settings locally.
Its built-in agent can read and edit files, run commands and examine code, with permission controls and visible tool approvals. A separate Agent Client Protocol workspace connects external agents such as Codex, Claude Agent, Gemini CLI and OpenCode. The selected working directory isn't a filesystem sandbox.
Local knowledge bases index private documents with sqlite-vec. MCP connects tools to conversations, while skills management covers AQBot, Codex, Claude and Agents directories. Answers can include rendered math, Mermaid and D2 diagrams, plus code and HTML previews.
The desktop gateway exposes OpenAI Chat Completions and Responses interfaces, along with native Claude and Gemini interfaces, for other AI clients. AQBot also imports ChatGPT exports and Cherry Studio or Kelivo backups. Backups can stay in a local directory or go to WebDAV or S3-compatible storage, and API keys are encrypted locally.

Halo puts Claude Code and Codex in a visual desktop app for people who want AI agents to work with files, write code and handle recurring tasks. It runs on macOS, including Intel and Apple Silicon, Windows and Linux. The desktop app doesn't require a separate backend server. Model access uses Anthropic, OpenAI, DeepSeek or compatible APIs, so running the app locally doesn't make those services offline.
