iZotope Neutron is a proprietary audio mixing suite for producers, musicians and mix engineers who want an assisted starting point and control over individual effects. Its AI-powered Mix Assistant helps shape a mix, while manual controls let you build your own processing chain.
You can combine modules in one plugin or use component plugins separately. That flexibility suits both people mixing their own music at home and engineers who need specific processors within an existing workflow. You choose the processing chain.
The suite covers EQ, compression, transient shaping and harmonic distortion. Its Clipper works in stereo and mid/side, with transient/sustain modes for treating different parts of a sound. These controls let you adjust how peaks and sustained material respond to clipping.
Density uses upward compression to add weight and improve intelligibility. Neutron also includes a Phase module and visual feedback to help you assess processing choices as you refine a mix. The combination of assisted mixing and separate effects gives you a way to start with suggested processing, then adjust the sound through the same suite's manual tools.
The software runs as native audio plug-ins on macOS and Windows in a compatible DAW. Module and component-plugin availability varies by edition. Audio processing runs in the installed host; downloads and licence activation use vendor services.
