Jean
A local or self-hosted coding agent workspace for Claude, Codex and OpenCode. Runs on your hardware; AI providers require your own subscription or API access.

Jean is a desktop and self-hosted workspace for developers running coding agents across multiple projects. Repositories, terminals and git operations run on your computer or server, while the connected agents use your own subscriptions or API access. With Claude Code’s standard cloud connection, prompts and model responses go to its remote provider.
Each task gets a separate git worktree, so agents can edit and test different branches in parallel. You can review their changes independently before merging, then archive or restore the workspaces. Linked projects give agents context from related repositories and saved engineering decisions.
Jean brings chat, file editing and terminals together with side-by-side diffs and line comments. GitHub and Linear integrations supply issue and pull request context. AI workflows investigate problems, track code review findings, draft commits and release notes, and help resolve merge conflicts. Each workflow has an editable prompt and its own backend, model and reasoning settings.
Supported agents include Claude CLI, Codex CLI, Cursor, OpenCode and Grok. Jean itself is free and open source under Apache 2.0; provider access is separate.
The desktop app supports macOS, Windows and Linux, with macOS tested and the other desktop builds needing further testing. The Linux server can run in Docker and serves the workspace through a token-protected browser interface, including on phones. The native app can show local and remote projects together, with actions running on the host that owns each project.
