Kokoro Clipboard TTS

An offline text-to-speech desktop app for Windows and macOS that uses Kokoro-82M to read clipboard text aloud, with speech and text kept on your machine.

Kokoro Clipboard TTS reads selected or copied text aloud on Windows and macOS using Kokoro-82M. It's for people who want to listen to text across desktop apps while keeping it private. Speech generation works offline, and both clipboard text and audio stay on your machine. It doesn't require an account or API key, and it has no telemetry.

A global keyboard shortcut gives you access to the reader from other apps. A small floating widget stays above your windows, with controls to pause, stop, replay the current sentence, or change playback speed. You can adjust speed during speech without changing its pitch. The app also runs in the system tray or macOS menu bar, where you can start reading clipboard text without the shortcut.

The reader retains document structure such as headings, paragraphs, lists, and useful line breaks. It handles shorthand, dates, monetary amounts, links, file paths, and code with speech-specific rules. Kokoro's voice library provides a choice of voices, and you can preview a voice and its volume before saving your preferences.

The app bundles the speech engine, model weights, and voices, so you don't need a separate Python installation or AI runtime. macOS builds support both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. Its settings include an updater that checks a signed release channel and offers download, installation, and restart controls.

The application is open source under the MIT license.
