OpenVINO AI Plugins for GIMP
Local AI image plugins add generation, inpainting and upscaling to GIMP 3 on Windows and Linux, using OpenVINO on Intel hardware.
OpenVINO AI Plugins for GIMP adds image generation and AI editing to GIMP 3 for people who want to work within their existing image editor. Models run on Intel devices through OpenVINO.
- Image generation: Create images from text prompts or use an existing image as a starting point, with Stable Diffusion and SDXL model choices.
- Inpainting: Replace selected parts of an image through layer masks using Stable Diffusion 1.5 or SDXL inpainting.
- Reference-guided generation: ControlNet can guide output with a reference image's pose, edges or scribbles.
- Upscaling and segmentation: Enlarge images with super resolution or identify image regions with semantic segmentation.
- FastSD generation: Use accelerated models including FLUX.1-schnell and Sana Sprint, with CPU, GPU and NPU inference support.
The plugins run on Windows and Linux. The Linux build has been tested on Ubuntu; Flatpak isn't supported. Generation models include Stable Diffusion 1.5, SDXL Base and Turbo, Stable Diffusion 3 Medium, and Stable Diffusion 3.5 Medium Turbo. FastSD's specified NPU model is rupeshs/sd15-lcm-square-openvino-int8.
Inference runs on your hardware. FastSD downloads models on first use, so that initial download needs an internet connection. The plugin code is open source under Apache 2.0, while model licenses are separate. Stable Diffusion's Creative ML Open Rail M license isn't an open-source license.
