Krita AI Diffusion
An open source Krita plugin for local AI image generation and editing, with optional online generation through Interstice.cloud.
Krita AI Diffusion brings image generation into Krita for artists who want to paint and edit in the same workspace. The open source plugin is licensed under GNU GPL v3.0 and can run generation for free on your own hardware through ComfyUI. Interstice.cloud offers a separate online generation service for people without a suitable GPU.
Selections keep edits contained. You can fill gaps, extend a canvas, or add and remove objects in a photo or painting. For more control over the result, the plugin can use sketches, line art, reference images, depth maps, and poses as guides. It also supports separate text descriptions for regions of an image and can interpret the canvas as you paint.
The plugin works with Flux 2, Z-Image, Stable Diffusion 1.5, Stable Diffusion XL, and Illustrious. You can bring your own models and make presets with custom checkpoints and LoRA. Text instructions can change an existing image, while upscaling adds detail to larger outputs. A job queue lets you continue working during generation, and history keeps earlier results and prompts available to review.
Local generation runs on Windows, Linux, and macOS. NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel GPUs are supported on Windows or Linux; Apple Silicon uses MPS on macOS. CPU generation is possible but slow. For local use, the project recommends an NVIDIA GPU with at least 6 GB of VRAM.
