Prompty is an MIT-licensed, open-source prompt format and developer toolkit for AI applications. It keeps a prompt's text, model settings, inputs, and tool definitions in one portable Markdown file. Developers can use the same file in VS Code and across Python, TypeScript, C#, and Rust runtimes.
It works with self-hosted model servers through OpenAI-compatible endpoints, as well as OpenAI, Anthropic, and Microsoft Foundry. The editor and runtimes run in your development environment; model requests go to the endpoint you choose. You can change that endpoint without rewriting the prompt body.
The VS Code extension provides syntax highlighting, autocomplete, live preview, and an interactive chat mode with tool calling. Its trace viewer shows the messages sent to the model, token usage, latency, and raw responses, so developers can inspect what happened during a prompt run. Traces can also go to console output, JSON files, or OpenTelemetry.
For AI agent applications, the same prompt file can declare function tools, MCP tools, and OpenAPI tools. The runtime supports guardrails, cancellation, retries, and conversation controls, including context budgets and compaction. Event streams and traces cover model calls and tool activity within each conversation turn.
Jinja2 and Mustache templates let developers reuse prompt text with different inputs. Shared schemas and cross-runtime checks keep the file format's behavior aligned across languages, while a plugin system supports custom model providers.

Mirascope is an open-source toolkit for developers building LLM applications and AI agents in Python or TypeScript. It gives applications a shared interface to model providers, including OpenAI, Anthropic and Google, so developers can work across providers within the same toolkit. It's MIT licensed.

VoltAgent is an MIT-licensed TypeScript AI agent framework for developers building assistants and automated workflows. It pairs code-based agent development with VoltOps, a console for inspecting execution and managing agents. The console can run on your own server or as a cloud service; managed deployment uses hosted infrastructure.
DSPy is a Python framework for developers building AI applications whose tasks need clear inputs, predictable output types, and measurable results. You define what a language model should produce, then compose those tasks into a larger program. It's open source under the MIT license.
Genkit is Google's open-source framework for developers building AI applications and agents with local or cloud models. Its shared API connects to Ollama as well as hosted providers such as Gemini, OpenAI and Anthropic. You can host the application logic yourself. The framework uses the Apache 2.0 license.
BAML is a programming language for developers building AI agents, with typed model calls and local tracing built into the language. It runs standalone on macOS, Linux and Windows, or alongside an existing application. The language is open source under Apache 2.0, and works offline.
MASFactory is an open-source Python framework for developers building workflows in which multiple AI agents work together. Its Vibe Graphing feature drafts a collaboration graph from a plain-language description, then lets people refine and approve the design through dialogue before it becomes an executable workflow. The license is Apache 2.0.
