sandboxd is an AI app builder for teams hosting coding agents, playgrounds or app previews on their own server. It turns prompts into running apps, each with an isolated workspace and its own preview URL.

  • Build or import apps: Work with OpenCode or Claude Code, start from React/Vite, Next.js or FastAPI, import a public Git repository, or run ready-made apps such as Ghost, n8n and Grafana.
  • Browser workspace: Chat with an agent, edit files, review Git diffs, commit and push from the optional web console.
  • Task recovery: Revert checkpointed agent tasks, or use snapshots to fork and restore sandboxes.
  • App platform API: Use the same capabilities without the console to build your own agent platform or preview service; idle sandboxes sleep and wake on request.

The free, open-source engine uses the MIT license and runs on Linux with Docker, on amd64 or arm64 hardware. macOS through Docker Desktop has best-effort support. It doesn't require Kubernetes or a separate database server.

App compute and workspaces stay on your server. A proxy keeps model credentials out of sandbox workspaces, but self-hosting the platform doesn't make external model services local.

Paid Managed service operates sandboxd on your own server. Optional sandboxd Cloud supplies public URLs, including for servers behind NAT, while compute and data remain on your machine.
