Allison Sheridan demonstrates Aiko's on-device audio transcription on macOS in this ScreenCastsONLINE preview, uploaded June 6, 2025. Her sample recording states May 13, 2025; the metadata does not establish the tutorial's recording date. No Aiko version number is supplied. Requirements and settings describe the demonstrated release.
The presenter says Aiko runs on Mac, iPhone, iPad and Vision Pro, with transcription data staying on the device. She gives Mac requirements of Apple Silicon, at least 16 GB RAM and macOS 15.2 or later, and reports an app size above 3 GB on Mac and 2 GB on iOS. Her four-minute interview recording from a noisy event finishes transcribing in under 30 seconds, a result specific to this demonstration.
The walkthrough covers importing audio or video, recording through the system's selected microphone, and exporting text, timestamped text, JSON, CSV and subtitles. It explains SRT timing and warns that clearing or replacing a transcript cannot be undone. Recent microphone recordings remain available for transcription again.
Settings include language detection, translation into English, 84-character subtitle segments, prompts for terminology and word replacements. Sheridan also shows automatic copying and deletion of recordings older than seven days. Reduced resource usage trades speed for battery savings. Advanced settings address repetition in Whisper output; the alternate audio recorder is described as beta.
