This tutorial compares Herdr with tmux and walks through configuration, pane controls and project workspaces. The presenter uses version 0.7 and describes installation options for macOS, Linux, Windows and NixOS. Herdr uses Ctrl+B as its default prefix, with configurable bindings and built-in Vim-style navigation. Mouse controls include tab selection, pane splitting and drag resizing.
The AI agent workflow centers on sidebar status indicators and filters for agents that are running, idle, blocked or done. Detaching keeps processes running; stopping the server ends them but preserves layout snapshots. The presenter demonstrates restoring supported agent conversations with an option that defaults to false, identifying Hermes and Codex as supported integrations and Grok as unsupported in this demonstration.
Sessions contain multiple workspaces. The tutorial notes that sessions cannot be renamed and lack a direct switching key binding. SSH remote mode connects a local client to a Herdr server, retaining local bindings and clipboard support. The remote server must also have Herdr installed.
Herdr-plus adds fuzzy lists for quick actions and project layouts with preset tabs, panes and commands. Commands must be executable programs. The plugin setup section says version 7.0, which differs from the earlier 0.7 reference. A sponsored Hostinger Horizons segment also demonstrates exporting a generated web app and deploying it to an Ubuntu 24.04 LTS VPS.
