This tutorial demonstrates MCP Inspector with a Python Kubernetes MCP server. The speaker introduces its interactive UI for listing tools, resources and prompts, then focuses on testing individual tool calls before deployment. The demo does not cover an end-to-end workflow with a language model.
The example uses a kind Kubernetes cluster with two worker nodes and one control plane. The server wraps familiar Kubernetes operations, including listing pods and deployments, retrieving pod logs and describing a pod. The speaker briefly compares the server's output with terminal commands, but leaves the cluster setup outside the tutorial's scope.
The walkthrough launches Inspector with Python and the server script, checks the command and arguments in the UI, and connects to the server. A pod-listing call uses the app namespace rather than the default namespace configured in the code. It returns the four pods running there.
The pod-description test also demonstrates a failure case. Calling it with the default namespace produces a pod-not-found error; using the correct namespace returns container details and events. The speaker then points to the Python function that controls the output. These examples show how to inspect successful responses and errors during development.
