Docker MCP Gateway

Docker MCP Gateway gives developers one local connection point for the tools their AI applications use. It runs MCP servers in isolated Docker containers and shares their configuration across clients such as Claude Code, Cursor and Zed. This reduces repeated setup when several coding assistants need access to the same databases, APIs or development tools.
The gateway is an open-source Docker CLI plugin licensed under MIT. It powers the MCP Toolkit in Docker Desktop, but can also run independently of Desktop. Local servers run in containers on your hardware; profiles can also include remote MCP servers, whose tools run elsewhere.
Profiles group servers by project and can be shared with a team. Docker's catalog provides verified server images with versioning, provenance and security updates, while custom catalogs let organizations maintain their own approved collections. A profile can combine servers from multiple catalogs with remote connections.
The gateway routes requests, manages server lifecycles and handles authentication. Docker Desktop supplies secrets management for API keys and credentials, and built-in OAuth flows support services that require account authorization. The gateway discovers tools, prompts and resources exposed by running servers, with logging and call tracing for troubleshooting.
Profile, catalog and server configuration stays in a local database. Connections to remote servers and external services send requests to those destinations.
