This beginner tutorial walks through installing Odysseus on a MacBook and connecting it to Ollama to run models locally. It covers checking dependencies in Terminal, installing Git through Homebrew and downloading Ollama from its website. The presenter recommends the direct Ollama download and claims the Homebrew installation can cause problems with Odysseus; the tutorial does not establish that as a universal limitation.
The presenter states that Odysseus needs Python 3.11 or later, then uses Python 3.13 for the demonstrated setup. The installation includes cloning the repository, creating a virtual environment with that specific Python version, upgrading pip and installing requirements. After creating login credentials and starting the server, the presenter opens the workspace at 127.0.0.1:7000.
Inside Odysseus, the walkthrough adds Ollama through Quick Start settings, checks hardware recommendations in Cookbook and downloads a model with an Ollama pull command. It also shows how to enable a model if it does not appear after refreshing.
The final section creates a plain-text .command launcher that enters the installation folder, activates the environment and starts the server. The narration switches to Oobabooga during this section and names that folder, creating a path inconsistency; the earlier setup and final browser check are for Odysseus.
