OpenRig is an open source coordination layer for Claude Code and Codex. The speaker describes a daemon, CLI and web UI running on a laptop, with agents working in terminals through existing subscriptions. The description lists an Apache-2.0 license and installation via npm i -g @openrig/cli. Local execution here refers to the coordination system; the video does not establish offline model inference.
The walkthrough explains four building blocks. A rig config groups agents into a named team. Coordination uses tmux terminals, with rig send for messages, rig capture for live screens and rig transcript for saved history. A durable queue assigns work an owner and status because chat messages can accumulate or get ignored. YAML workflows let the daemon route a specification through implementation and testing. Markdown workspaces hold progress and task context, and supply the web UI with evidence of completed work.
The speaker favors Claude for planning and design and Codex for debugging and review; these are personal assessments. In the Linkpix demo, an orchestrator divides work into missions and slices, then delegates it to other rigs. The speaker also reports a weeks-long self-improvement experiment that paused at rate limits and resumed afterward. They acknowledge brittle workspace behavior and say stronger guardrails are needed before repeating that experiment in a public project.
