Voxta

Voxta is an AI companion for people who want a character they can talk to, give work to or use in interactive stories. You choose its personality, voice and optional avatar. The proprietary local-server edition has a browser interface, and AI processing can run entirely on your hardware, through Voxta Cloud or across a mix of local and cloud services.

Voice conversations support interruptions and long-term memory across chats. The companion can view your screen or a photo when you ask, with screen capture available on Windows. Voice options include ElevenLabs, Fish Audio and local services. For work, it can read, write and edit files in a workspace, call Claude Code or OpenAI Codex for coding tasks, search the web and use MCP tools.

Stories use custom characters and scenarios, spoken dialogue and images generated locally or in the cloud. Scriptable maps, inventories and HUD widgets let creators build interactions around the conversation. Developers can extend its behavior through JavaScript, Python integration, a C# SDK and an API with a module system.

Windows 10 and 11 support the full desktop app; Linux uses the server and browser interface with some Windows-only features absent. An Android companion app is also available. Cloud processing doesn't require a powerful GPU. With local models, data stays on your machine; cloud and third-party API requests leave it. You choose where each service runs. Its license covers personal use; commercial deployments require a separate license.
