Agent Zero is a self-hosted AI agent framework for people who want an assistant to carry out research, coding, and document work on a computer. You can watch its actions and intervene in the same desktop with your mouse and keyboard.

  • Desktop and task execution: Agents use Linux applications, terminals, and files, create tools for a task, and delegate work to subagents with separate contexts.
  • Browser interaction: The built-in browser lets agents read and operate websites, while annotations let you point to page elements for inspection, changes, or UI review.
  • Shared document editing: Work alongside the agent in Markdown or LibreOffice Writer, Calc, and Impress, with both of you editing the same files.
  • Projects and memory: Separate workspaces keep each project's files, instructions, knowledge, memories, secrets, and model choices together.
  • Skills and plugins: Extend agents with reusable procedures and community plugins, or inspect and edit their prompts, tools, and settings.

The agent's Linux desktop runs in a Docker container on your own hardware or server. The A0 CLI Connector can also give it access to your host machine's terminal, project files, and browser, so its access can extend beyond the container.

Agent Zero supports local models and external AI providers, including an account connection to OpenAI Codex. Self-hosting the workspace doesn't make external model calls local; where model processing happens depends on the provider you choose.
