AI File Sorter
A desktop AI file organizer for Windows, macOS and Linux that previews moves and renames using offline local models or your own cloud provider.

AI File Sorter helps people clear crowded Downloads folders, photo collections and stored archives. It proposes folders and filenames for you to review before it moves or renames files.
- Content-based filenames: Suggest descriptive names from supported images and document text, including screenshots, PDFs, Office and OpenDocument files.
- Archive sorting: Group files on local drives, synced cloud folders, external drives and mounted NAS shares using filenames, file types and folder context.
- Media renaming: Use embedded audio and video tags, when available, to suggest filenames based on details such as artist, album and title.
- Review and safeguards: Preview files, edit or reject suggestions, and use dry runs, undo and project-folder protection to control changes.
- Consistent categories: Restrict suggestions to allowed categories and use approved reviews to guide later sorting; saved progress helps interrupted jobs continue.
Local analysis works offline without an API key and keeps processing on your computer. Built-in models include Gemma 3 4B IT and Mistral 7B, with support for custom GGUF and visual models. Remote analysis uses your own OpenAI, Gemini or compatible endpoint; local servers and self-hosted gateways are also supported.
The app is free and open source under AGPL-3.0 for Windows, macOS and Linux. GPU acceleration supports NVIDIA, AMD, Intel and Apple hardware through CUDA, Vulkan and Metal. Content inspection applies only to supported documents and visual-analysis formats; other files use regular sorting, and audio/video renaming relies on metadata.
