Amurex is an AI meeting copilot that runs as a Chrome extension for Google Meet and MS Teams. It's for people who want help following a discussion and recording decisions without handling all the meeting notes themselves. You can self-host its backend and web application alongside the browser extension.
During a call, Amurex provides live transcripts and suggests prompts as the discussion unfolds. If you arrive late, it can recap the part you've missed. That makes catching up a distinct feature rather than leaving you to read through the full transcript while the meeting continues.
After the discussion, it generates summaries, key takeaways and action items. It also drafts and sends follow-up emails, so its scope covers both the meeting record and the messages that follow. The transcript captures the full conversation; the summary gives you a shorter account of the discussion and its outcomes.
The extension is available through the Chrome Web Store, while self-hosting uses separate backend and web components. The extension communicates with the backend, so the browser add-on is one part of the system rather than the entire application. Self-hosting lets you point it at servers you control, and you can disable analytics tracking. Amurex is open source under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 (AGPL-3.0).
The backend defaults to cloud AI providers. Its LOCAL mode uses Ollama and fast-embed for local inference and embeddings. The documented setup also requires Supabase and Redis, with Resend for email, so local AI processing does not make the entire meeting workflow offline.
