Auteur
An MIT-licensed AI web design skill guides art direction and runs local checks for design patterns, animation performance and visual consistency.

Auteur is an AI web design skill for coding agents building animated landing pages and products with several screens. It sets visual direction before code and supplies recipes and automated checks for the resulting site.
- Art direction. The skill records a brand hue, typography, motion limits and references to avoid, informed by research into live websites and imagery.
- Motion and assets. Recipes cover WebGL fluid effects, GPU particles, 3D scenes and scroll-driven transitions, with optional asset workflows using Codex, Gemini and Blender and a fallback to hand-authored assets.
- Design checks. The slopscan linter flags specified design clichés and patterns such as autoplay audio, video without a poster and WebGL effects without a reduced-motion alternative.
- Browser testing. Playwright-based motionqa checks animation under CPU throttling for dropped frames, long tasks and console errors; systemscan checks visual consistency across routes and visible keyboard focus.
Accessibility rules also require readable copy with JavaScript disabled, responsive layouts and still alternatives to motion. Asset sourcing records licenses and attribution.
Auteur is open source under MIT and works with agents that read skills. Its checking scripts run locally and use Node.js and Playwright. Reference research and asset sourcing access external websites without requiring API keys or logins. The remaining skill workflow can run offline when those phases are skipped; optional image services and the chosen coding assistant have their own connection requirements.
