Docmost is a self-hosted team wiki with collaborative editing, spaces, page history, attachments and access permissions. Teams can run the wiki on their own servers or use managed hosting. Its core is AGPL-3.0 licensed; AI search and chat require a separate commercial license.
The AI features answer questions across documentation with source citations and use vector embeddings for semantic search. AI search requires PostgreSQL with pgvector. Configure local completions and embeddings through Ollama, or use vLLM and other OpenAI-compatible endpoints. OpenAI, Gemini and Azure OpenAI are also supported. Requests to a cloud model leave the self-hosted wiki for that provider.
The assistant can use PDF and DOCX attachments as context. An MCP server exposes the knowledge base to compatible AI clients such as Claude and Cursor.
Spaces and groups organize documentation and permissions. The editor supports Draw.io, Excalidraw and Mermaid diagrams, while imports cover Confluence, Notion, HTML and Markdown. Review workflows and enterprise authentication are additional capabilities whose availability depends on the installed edition.
