JesType
Offline speech-to-text app for Apple Silicon Macs and Windows PCs. Recognizes audio locally with Parakeet and Moonshine, then pastes text into your apps.

JesType is a paid dictation app for people who want to write emails, documents, and other text by speaking while keeping their audio on their own computer. It runs on Apple Silicon Macs with macOS 13.4 or later and 64-bit Windows PCs running Windows 10 or later. Intel Macs aren't supported.
Speech recognition works offline after the model download, provided the cached license remains valid. The app still needs internet access for initial setup, periodic license checks, and updates. Recording, recognition, and transcription history stay on your machine; JesType doesn't upload audio.
Parakeet V3 handles multilingual dictation and detects the spoken language automatically. Moonshine Medium Streaming is English only and uses less memory. Recognition runs as you speak, and an optional live preview shows the transcript before you finish. The app adds punctuation and capitalization, then pastes the result into the focused text field. If an app blocks insertion, you can copy the transcript from History.
Optional AI cleanup can use a local server to keep processing on your computer, or a cloud provider you choose. Cloud cleanup is off by default and sends transcript text to that provider, never audio. A thin screen bar and menu bar or tray icon keep the controls available while you work in another app. Recognition speed and memory use depend on your hardware, the selected model, and recording length.
