OpenBitFun is an open-source AI agent workspace for coding and work that involves desktop apps, remote hosts or custom tools. Its desktop application runs on Windows, macOS, Linux and HarmonyOS under the MIT license. A Rust runtime supports persistent sessions, interruption recovery and long-term memory for tasks that continue across sessions.

You can follow an active task from another device through a browser, check progress and add instructions. Execution stays on the device running the task. SSH workspaces let agents work with files and commands on remote hosts or inside containers, while distributed execution sends work across hosts. Parallel agents can divide complex tasks, and scheduled tasks and a task board help manage ongoing work.

The workspace accommodates quick exchanges, everyday tasks with several steps, complex agent collaboration and creative work. Codebase search uses a resident index, and computer use lets agents operate applications and desktop interfaces. Persistent assistants retain their own identities.

Customization extends beyond appearance. Mini Apps pair a dedicated interface with an agent conversation, so a Git insights panel or presentation workspace can keep changing through chat. You can reuse these apps, build specialist agents with chosen models and tools, or ask the Code Agent to modify OpenBitFun itself. MCP and ACP compatibility connect it to other tools and agents; Skills capture repeatable workflows, and Hooks customize task behavior.
