Sandcastle is an open-source TypeScript library for developers building automated coding and review workflows. It runs AI coding agents in local Docker or Podman containers, or in Vercel cloud sandboxes, and manages how their changes reach your Git repository. The library uses the MIT license.
Its main distinction is the combination of sandbox control and Git branch management. Agents can work in your current directory, on a temporary branch whose commits merge back, or on a named branch you keep for further work. This supports parallel unattended agents and review pipelines without requiring every task to share the same working directory.
Reusable sandboxes let an implementation agent and a review agent work on the same branch. Dependencies and build artifacts persist between runs, avoiding repeated container startup. Your workflow can also run verification commands in that environment before handing the code to a reviewer.
Sandcastle fits scripts, CI pipelines, and custom developer tools. It supports interactive agent sessions as well as automated runs, returns commit and iteration results, and can forward agent output to your own monitoring system. Custom sandbox providers let you use environments beyond the built-in choices.
The supplied Claude Code integration accepts Claude models and authenticates through a Claude Code token or an Anthropic API key. Local containers determine where the agent's tools execute; they don't make Claude inference local. Vercel execution uses cloud Firecracker microVMs. An optional host execution mode runs agents directly without container isolation.

Helix is a paid, self-hosted platform for engineering teams running coding agents in parallel. Each task gets an isolated Linux desktop with an editor, browser and terminal, so agents can build and test applications while teammates watch or take control through their browsers.

Optio is a self-hosted AI agent orchestration platform for teams running coding and automation work on their own Kubernetes clusters or paired machines. Its pull request workflow follows a ticket through coding, CI, review, and merge, resuming the agent when checks fail, conflicts arise, or a reviewer asks for changes. When checks pass and approval arrives, it squash-merges the PR and closes the issue.

AgentFlow is an MIT-licensed Python framework for developers who want several coding agents to share a workflow. It connects Codex, Claude, Kimi, and Pi tasks in dependency graphs, so planning can feed implementation and parallel reviews can feed a combined result. Agents can run in local Docker containers or on remote machines through SSH, EC2, and ECS.
AX is Google's self-hosted AI agent orchestrator for teams running autonomous workloads on a Kubernetes cluster. It uses Agent Substrate to isolate agent execution and manages the workspaces and model settings each task needs. The project is open source under Apache 2.0.
DeerFlow is an MIT-licensed AI agent framework for people who want to build and run agents on their own infrastructure. It combines subagents, memory and a Docker-based workspace to handle research, coding and content creation tasks that can take minutes or hours.
MetaGPT organizes AI agents into a software development team, with roles for product management, architecture, project management and engineering. It's a self-hosted Python framework for developers who want to generate software projects from plain-language requirements or build their own collaborative agents.
