sonible smart:chain is a proprietary AI mixing plug-in for producers and audio engineers who want help processing individual tracks and building a rough mix. It runs in a DAW on macOS or Windows, with native Apple Silicon support. Its processors share an analysis of the audio, so their suggested settings account for the rest of the chain.

The channel strip combines EQ, compression, de-harshing, gating, input riding, saturation, and leveling. Audio analysis supplies starting settings across the modules, while sound-shaping controls let you take the result in a different direction. Every parameter remains editable, so you can adjust the suggested processing rather than accept a fixed result.

Multiple instances communicate across a session. Auto Leveling assesses the relationships between analyzed tracks and proposes a genre-aware balance for the mix. Trim controls let you refine that balance while preserving the established level relationships. For depth staging, you can assign elements to Front, Middle, or Back layers, and the plug-in adapts processing to support their placement.

A central window gives you access to every instance, along with track groups and controls for moving between tracks. On macOS, smart:chain supports VST3, AU, and AAX; on Windows, it supports VST3 and AAX. It requires at least macOS 11 or 64-bit Windows 10 and 4 GB of RAM, with machine-based or iLok authorization.
