sonible smart:gate
An AI audio gate plug-in for macOS and Windows that detects chosen sound sources, with native Apple Silicon support and a target-aware ducking mode.

sonible smart:gate is a proprietary audio gate plug-in for people mixing music or cleaning up recorded tracks on macOS and Windows. Its AI processing detects a chosen sound source, such as vocals, electric guitar or piano, rather than relying only on volume to decide when the gate opens. That helps when the sound you want to keep changes level or a competing instrument is louder.
Instrument and sound profiles guide the detection. On vocal recordings, it can reduce microphone rumble and bleed; on drum loops, it can distinguish a kick from a snare. The interface shows both the detected source's activity and the gate's response, while Instant Replay helps you review the effect as you adjust it.
For finer control, a three-band suppression system lets you vary how much the gate reduces different parts of the frequency spectrum. Level bias adjusts how strongly signal volume influences the processing, which can help with transient sounds. A ducking mode uses the same source detection to reduce audio in response to the selected target. You can also turn off the AI processing and use it as a conventional gate.
The plug-in runs in a compatible DAW and supports VST, VST3 and AAX on both platforms, plus AU on macOS. It runs natively on Apple Silicon and also supports Intel Core i5 processors. System requirements include 4 GB of RAM and an OpenGL 3.2-compatible GPU. Authorization uses either machine-based licensing or iLok.
