Josh from Synty Studios explains how to connect Claude Code to Unity through MCP for Unity, an open source plugin by CoplayDev. The tutorial installs the plugin through Unity's Package Manager using a Git URL, checks that Python and the UV package manager are installed, configures Claude Code as the client, and starts the MCP server.

The workflow uses the Code section of the Claude desktop app. Josh selects the Unity project's root folder, trusts the workspace, and enables auto mode for edits. He also notes that viewers can approve changes manually. To check the connection, he asks Claude to identify the active scene; it reports the scene name as demo night. This is a coding assistant integration with a local editor, rather than a demonstration of how to run models locally.

The example asks Claude to attach a first-person controller to an existing FPS camera, with WASD movement, mouse look and gravity. Its initial script uses Unity's legacy input manager, so Josh requests a revision for the new input system before testing it in Play mode.

A second prompt raises the camera and adds a flashlight that starts off and toggles with F. Claude exposes color and brightness controls, which Josh adjusts directly in Unity. The example shows an iterative workflow: generate a script, test its behavior, request corrections, and keep useful settings editable in the Inspector.
