herdr is presented as a terminal multiplexer for managing several coding agents across projects. The tutorial starts with installation through a script, then adds agent integrations and an agent skill through npx skills add. The speaker installs the skill globally so it is available across sessions.
The walkthrough organizes projects into workspaces and opens Pi and Claude Code in separate tabs. Mouse controls handle workspace creation and agent switching, while keyboard shortcuts use a Ctrl+B prefix. Agent indicators show idle, working, done and blocked states. In the example, a blocked agent needs permission to continue, and a notification signals that another agent has finished.
Tabs and split panes also accommodate a development server alongside agent work. The speaker closes the terminal window and reopens the existing session, demonstrating that the workspace remains available. Separate named sessions keep work and personal projects apart.
The final demonstration uses the herdr skill to have Pi launch two agents in separate panes to investigate Python and Rust migration work, then read their results. The speaker says Pi does not provide sub-agents by default. This is a workflow tutorial for coordinating a coding assistant setup; it does not establish whether the underlying models run locally or support offline use.
