Waifu2x-Extension-GUI is a local AI upscaler for Windows users working with anime, photos and video. It combines image enlargement, noise reduction and video frame interpolation in a desktop interface. Media processing stays on your PC; the app doesn't upload your files or collect user data.
Its built-in engines include Waifu2x, Real-ESRGAN, Real-CUGAN and Anime4K, alongside RTX Video Super Resolution. That choice lets you use different algorithms for drawn artwork and photographic material within the same app. It handles still images, animated GIFs, APNG, WebP and video, and can process different media types together.
For video, RIFE, CAIN, DAIN and IFRNet generate intermediate frames for smoother motion. The app can apply interpolation automatically after upscaling, while its frame analysis aims to improve output quality and processing speed. Presets reduce the need to choose individual settings, and automatic adjustments account for your hardware and the files being processed. More detailed controls support workflow automation.
The portable app runs on Windows x64 and supports AMD, NVIDIA and Intel GPUs, including multiple GPUs across its built-in engines. Processing runs locally; internet connections serve update checks and downloads of donation images and related files.
The license permits free personal use. Commercial use requires a separate license.
