Dify is a source-available platform for teams building AI agents and apps on a visual canvas. Its Community Edition runs on your own server with Docker. Dify also offers a hosted cloud service, while Enterprise deployments can run in a VPC or on a self-hosted server. The Community Edition uses a custom Apache 2.0 derivative license.
The workflow editor shows how an app handles prompts, retrieves information, makes decisions, uses tools and asks for human input. Teams can inspect each step. Agents can use skills, Marketplace tools, MCP servers and custom APIs, then run as apps or as steps within a workflow.
Dify also builds knowledge bases from files, websites, online documents and drives. Its pipelines prepare content for search and let teams test what an agent retrieves before using it. Document support includes PDFs and presentations. Model options include GPT, Mistral, Llama3 and models served through an OpenAI-compatible API, including self-hosted inference options.
Apps can be published as web experiences, API endpoints, website embeds or MCP-compatible tools. Logs, feedback and performance data help teams examine how those apps behave after launch. The server requires at least two CPU cores and 4 GiB of RAM.
