Lithe is a desktop IDE for Java and Spring Boot developers who need to inspect, edit, and run code, including work produced by AI coding assistants. It's an IntelliJ IDEA alternative designed to keep baseline memory use low.

  • Run and debug: Maven management, breakpoint debugging, and custom run configurations support Java development, while automatic entry-point detection also covers Gradle, npm, Cargo, Go, Python, and Docker Compose projects.
  • Code browsing: Project-wide search and current-file symbol navigation help you follow code, with on-demand language servers adding richer completion, hover information, and semantic navigation.
  • Change review: Side-by-side Git diffs and local snapshot history let you inspect changes and revisit earlier file states; AI-generated commit messages support customizable formats.
  • Database workspace: Manage connections, browse tables, perform database operations, and revisit SQL history.

Basic completion and current-file navigation work without a separate language-server process. You can enable services independently for each language and monitor application memory use. Language servers, terminals, build tools, debuggers, and database helpers start as needed; memory use depends on the project and active services.

Lithe is open source under Apache 2.0. It runs on macOS 13 or later on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs, and on Windows x64.
