OpenMontage is an AI video production engine for creators who want an agent to produce a complete video or handle a specific editing task. It can start with a brief or work with material you already have.
- Reviewable production plans: Inspect and revise the script, scene plan and proposed media before asset creation begins.
- Mixed-media editing: Combine your recordings with stock footage, archival material and generated visuals for explainers, screen demos, talking-head edits, podcast clips or dubbed videos.
- Documentary footage: Search material from Archive.org, NASA and Wikimedia Commons and assemble actual motion footage into an edited timeline.
- Local production tools: Use Piper for offline narration, Remotion or HyperFrames for composition, and FFmpeg for audio mixing, subtitles and post-production.
- Editable exports: Produce landscape, square and vertical videos without watermarks, with word-level captions and records of each asset's source, license and model.
The engine is open source under AGPL-3.0. Composition and rendering run on your machine, and projects remain editable files in a published format. An AI coding assistant directs the production process.
Cloud media generation uses your own provider accounts, including services such as Kling, Runway and Google Veo. Web research, online footage sources and cloud APIs require internet access; available capabilities depend on the local tools and provider accounts you connect.
