OpenUI

OpenUI is a self-hosted AI UI builder for developers prototyping web interfaces with models they choose. It turns plain-language descriptions into rendered interfaces, with a live preview and follow-up requests for changes. You can run the app locally through Docker or Python and use it in your browser.

The output starts as HTML. OpenUI can convert it to React, Svelte or Web Components, so you can explore an interface before choosing the code format for your project. Its focus is UI components and web prototypes, with a preview that lets you assess what the model produces rather than judging code alone.

Model choice is a central part of the tool. Ollama support lets you run models locally, including Llava. OpenAI-compatible endpoints also let it connect to a local backend such as LocalAI. With a local backend, model processing runs on your own hardware; choosing a cloud provider sends generation requests to that service.

For cloud models, OpenUI supports OpenAI and Groq, plus Claude, Gemini, Cohere and Mistral through LiteLLM. The app can run locally even when the model runs remotely. A hosted demo is also available for trying the interface without hosting the app yourself.

OpenUI is open source under the Apache License 2.0. On Macs with M1 or M2 chips, native Ollama can use Apple Silicon acceleration.
