Pi Subagents adds specialized AI agents to pi for developers who want to split coding work across separate sessions. Each agent can have its own model, prompt and tool permissions. The extension runs within pi and is open source under the MIT license.
Agents work concurrently in the background, with queuing and completion notifications. You can inspect their full conversations, redirect work while it's running, or resume a finished session with its conversation intact. A live widget and FleetView show active work, tool activity and token usage without making you open every conversation.
For repeatable tasks, JavaScript workflows coordinate parallel jobs and pipelines rather than leaving every delegation decision to the model. Scripts written for Claude Code's Workflow tool run unchanged. Workflows can also check an agent's output by running a command, such as a test suite.
Custom agent definitions let you assign different roles, preload skills and restrict tools. Optional nested delegation lets an agent manage its own children within an explicit allowlist. Git worktree isolation gives agents separate repository copies and commits their changes to branches when they finish.
Agent sessions persist on disk, and memory can carry across sessions at project, machine or user scope. Agents without write tools can read memory but can't modify it. Other pi extensions can start, stop and collect agent work through an event interface, and scheduled agents support recurring or one-time tasks tied to a pi session.

Project Orchestrator is a self-hosted coordination tool for developers working with multiple AI coding agents. It keeps code knowledge, development plans, and architectural decisions in a shared store so agents can reuse context across tasks and projects. It runs on macOS, Windows, and Linux, with desktop apps and Docker deployment available.
AgentFlow is an MIT-licensed Python framework for developers who want several coding agents to share a workflow. It connects Codex, Claude, Kimi, and Pi tasks in dependency graphs, so planning can feed implementation and parallel reviews can feed a combined result. Agents can run in local Docker containers or on remote machines through SSH, EC2, and ECS.
Agentlas OS is a local-first AI agent framework that assembles specialist teams around a task. It runs inside Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and Gemini and is open source under Apache 2.0. Its roles cover software development and work such as insurance analysis, M&A diligence and travel planning.
ChatDev is a self-hosted platform for building teams of AI agents through a visual workflow editor. It's for people who want agents to collaborate on research, data analysis or software projects without writing the orchestration code themselves. You define each agent's role and how information passes between them.
Claw Orchestrator is a self-hosted runtime for developers who want to coordinate coding agents on their own machine or server. It brings Claude Code, Codex, Antigravity, Grok Build and OpenCode into one interface, with support for custom coding CLIs. The runtime and browser dashboard run locally.
