This tutorial connects FreeLLMAPI to OpenCode as a custom provider. The demonstration uses Windows x64 with Docker Desktop and Git. The presenter runs the repository's quick-start command in Git Bash, opens the service on port 3001 and creates the first account using a setup code from the Docker logs.
FreeLLMAPI is described as a self-hosted, OpenAI-compatible router for external providers' free-tier APIs. Hosting the router locally does not mean those models run on the user's hardware. The setup requires provider accounts and API keys; the presenter adds Google AI Studio and Groq, then checks a response in the playground.
In OpenCode, the presenter enters the router's base URL and unified API key, with auto as both the model ID and name. The speaker says this mode switches to another model when one reaches its limit. A test asks the coding assistant to create a single HTML file for an advertising agency landing page with 3D animation. The presenter opens the generated file manually after OpenCode says it cannot display a browser window directly.
The demonstration configures two providers; each endpoint retains its own access restrictions.
