GenOffice is presented as a free, open source office suite without ads. The review covers desktop releases for macOS and Windows on x86 and ARM, plus Linux packages for Debian-based and RPM-based distributions. Mobile versions were unavailable at the time of the review.

The suite uses DOCX, XLSX and PPTX files and includes PDF, Markdown and HTML editors. The reviewer finds the document editor adequate for everyday work and likes its Microsoft-inspired toolbar. Spreadsheets fare less well: formula names are available only in English, layout previews are missing, and macros are unsupported. The presentation editor draws criticism for limited tools, templates and animation options. The reviewer praises PDF editing that works locally but considers the Markdown and HTML editors too basic.

Integrated AI takes the form of a sidebar with access to the full document, allowing edits without copying text between apps. Users can switch providers if they have API access. The account does not establish support for a local LLM or offline AI processing.

The reviewer describes GenOffice as an alpha with no collaborative editing and declines to recommend it for regular work. WPS Office is the suggested alternative, with the caveat that collaboration, cloud synchronization and PDF tools require payment.
